Shepherd’s Pie
Ingredients
- 1 lb of some sort of meat - ground beef and jimmy dean sasusage works well
- 1 onion, diced
- Several carrots (or frozen carrots) cut up
- 1 cup of peas
- Six or so potatoes - more is better!
- Half a stick of butter
- Salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano, whatever you prefer
Steps
- If you have a cast iron skillet, use it
- Make mashed potatoes
- Peel (mostly) the potatoes
- Boil the potatoes until tender
- Combine with the butter
- Mix in a stand mixer or mash by hand
- Cook beef along with the diced onion
- Add in carrots and peas
- To make sure carrots and peas are tender, add a bit of water to your meat/veg pan and let it steam the vegetables
- Drain some of the water/grease from the pan
- Spread mashed potatoes on top of your mixture
- If you’re using cast iron, just stick it in the oven and broil it until your potatoes get a little crispy at the top
- Otherwise, stick it in a corning dish and bake it for a while uncovered
