The Best Sugar Cookies: No Need to Chill
- Freeze dough to preserve
- If needed to make in advance, wrap tightly and store in fridge. Bring to room temp before rolling out.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- ½ tsp almond extract
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 3 cups flour
- For fall cookies, add cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and nutmeg
Steps
- Cream butter and sugar for at least 3 minutes (in a mixer)
- Beat egg and extracts into sugar+butter
- Separate bowl: combine dry Ingredients
- Add a little at a time to wet ingredients. (Dough will be stiff)
- Wet hands if need be, and combine by hand.
- Don’t chill the dough - it’s ready to go!
- Roll out ¼" thick adding flour as needed; cut into desired shapes
- Bake for 6-8 minutes
- Let cool on cookie rack.
